Who We Are
Meet Our
Leadership Team
Jacob first experienced Cashiers when camping in Panthertown Valley during college. He couldn’t imagine how those experiences would shape his life.
Jacob grew up in Florence, South Carolina. Sports were a central part of his life, primarily baseball, and he desired to pursue playing baseball in college and continue his athletic career.
Life changed drastically when he tore his ACL twice, and this ended his athletic pursuits. But through this experience, he felt God’s call on his life to pursue the ministry. He began attending Young Life and leading worship at church. After graduating high school, he studied at Columbia International University (CIU) in Columbia, SC, where he majored in Bible and Youth Ministry with a minor in Outdoor Leadership. He graduated in 2014.
On one of those college camping trips to Panthertown, Jacob met his wife, Janai. She is originally from Parker, Colorado, but relocated to Columbia with her family. At CIU, she pursued her soccer career and majored in Bible and Literature with a minor in Writing/Journalism. Jacob and Janai got married in 2016 and have two boys: Judah and Jack.
Jacob and his family live in Highlands and love the mountains. He enjoys hobbies like fly fishing, golfing, playing music, and working on his house. He has been involved in many ministries in the community including volunteering at Blue Ridge School with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), often leading bible studies for middle and high school students. He has taught a guitar class during school hours and has taught guitar for the Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) after school. He occasionally writes for the “Spiritually Speaking” article in the Highlands Newspaper, and thankfully, his wife edits his articles. He also participates in the Highlands softball league every summer. He is a big fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks, and takes a trip with this family to a game at least once a year. He puts the love of Christ on display by even welcoming Clemson, Georgia, and Florida fans to church!
In 2019, Jacob was called to serve at Christ Church of the Valley as Student Pastor, and he transitioned to the role of Congregational Pastor in 2022.
Most days, you can catch Jacob at Bucks Coffee around one o’clock. He’d love to have coffee or lunch with you.

Ashley Dobbins
CHILDRENS DIRECTOR AND FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR
Ashley moved to Cashiers full time in March 2020 from Greenville, SC. She first visited CCOTV in March of 2021 and made the decision to join because she felt the messages are both thought provoking and a truthful teaching of God’s word. She enjoys the worship music and the people are welcoming, open and honest, and this made CCOTV feel like a true church home.
In the summer of 2021, Ashley began volunteering in the kids ministry. Seeing the joy in the kids when they talk about Jesus, she decided to continue doing it every week and eventually leading the ministry. She seeks to create an interactive and fun learning environment where they feel comfortable to ask honest questions about Jesus, engage with each other, and be themselves with their church family. Ashley has loved building relationships with each of the kids, being apart of their journey learning about Jesus, and watching them grow in our church community.
Ashley currently works as an accountant for a major corporation and, starting in January of 2025, agreed to be the Financial Administrator for the church as well as the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. She lives in Glenville with her dog Fern and loves hiking, cold weather and traveling.

Isaiah has been playing music since he was 14. He is an accomplished guitarist, sings, and also composes. He is currently the worship leader at Christ Church of the Valley, and has been with our church almost since its beginning, in 2007. You can also catch Isaiah playing at one of the venues in town throughout the year. Isaiah came to see his need for Jesus after having come to the awareness that without him, “life had nothing to offer”. His favorite scripture is Psalm 91. He and his wife Amber were married in April of 2018. They have two girls, Birdie and Elsie.

Woody Futrell and Peter Pakola
CHURCH CUSTODIANS
Both Woody and Peter are big blessings to our church. They sacrifice much of their time to make sure everything is running smoothly and properly. If there is a problem, they can fix it! We are very thankful for both of them.
